A system that includes a mobile application, web-version, synchronized industrial scale, and charts with QR codes.

The storehouse management system consists of several parts:

  1. A web application, which includes reference books, statistics, customer management functions. It is the app for managing staff: agriculturalists, directors, companies’ establishers.
  2. QR code charts, which are for a quick search of a container in the program.
  3. Synchronized industrial-scale.
  4. Mobile application for operators.

Problems the system must solve

Huge vegetable storehouse usually manages their production using paper-based media, and it requires lots of extra work bureaucracy to upload the data to the program.

However, there is no well-organized system of product weight recording, neither right information about the number of products at the storehouses. Marking the containers takes much time, and it is not possible to track a container’s line from the moment of purchase to the discarding.

The solutions

We decided what tasks should be solved and in which order. We defined that it is necessary:

  • To automatize the container's logistics and the record at a warehouse.
  • To provide the updated and 100% right information on the warehouse product turnover.
  • To make the analysis and forecasting of income/outcome/waste possible.
  • To allow the storehouse state data promptness
  • To launch distant monitoring of a storehouse activity.
  • To make an integrated data resource of a warehouse state.

 

Specific we took into account

Storehouses are mostly dark and highly humid rooms, which makes using smartphones there impossible. There they usually work with industrial data collection terminals that support the outdated Android platform. This aspect was considered in the app architecture. Thus, the new system could work on specific devices.

Experimentally we decided about QR codes. In a dark warehouse, they could be read better than barcodes or tag images. One of the advantages of QR codes is the amount of data they can keep.

Due to the connection at a storehouse that can be often lost, we supposed it significant to create the data caching and, when the connection is found, resending system on every device.

How the system works:

  1. The manager, according to a request, creates a back office with the access right for all the employees in charge.
  2. The manager creates a 3D model of a storehouse: he or she can choose a template and change the parameters (the length and width of the building).
  3. They create markers to mark the containers and personalize QR codes that are personalized for each company.
  4. The employees use the system to scan QR codes with the help of the app, upload the information on the products and their weight.
  5. They update the data after each transition.

The result

We created an information resource that allows us to control the turnover of packing and products, track the logistics and control the inner processes in a vegetable storehouse. Currently, about 10 companies successfully use the system. Occasionally the customer addresses us to expand the functionality of the app.
