The next version of the browser - Chrome 87 boasts increased speed and an updated user interface for the PDF reader in the browser, as well as its own version for new M1-based Macs.

Google rarely announces updates for Chrome with a report on new features but made an exception for Chrome 87. The company talked about it in a long post on the browser's blog and the Chromium team's blog.

Chrome 87 loads pages 7% faster than the previous version. The browser starts 25% faster and uses less memory. Other improvements related to the Chrome tab infrastructure five times reduce CPU usage, increasing laptop battery performance by up to an hour and a half.

Another promised change is an improved PDF reader in the browser. Now, when opening a file, the user sees the toolbar. eIt combines previous features, such as zooming in and out of the document, as well as new parameters, such as the current page number and the fit to width command, in one place. The new tool also includes a two-way view: two pages shown side by side, a mode for viewing added annotations, and a sidebar with page thumbnails.

Chrome 87 has also been adapted for the M1 system created by Apple, which is used in the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini

Also, according to Google, Chrome 87 will be the first version capable of executing remote commands sent by its administrators via cloud management of the Chrome browser.

This version of the browser will be the last one this year. New updates are planned by Google in January 2021.
