Tables from PDF to Excel in your browser
We find bordered and borderless tables, join them across pages and turn amounts and dates into numbers.
How it works
- Choose a PDF
Drop the file into the box or click it. Invoices, statements, price lists and reports work best.
- Check the tables
The preview shows which tables were found. Remove an extra one and rebuild the file.
- Download the XLSX
Open the workbook in Excel, LibreOffice Calc or Google Sheets and work as usual.
What is preserved and what is not
Preserved
- Bordered and borderless tables
- Merged cells
- Multi-page tables, repeated headers removed
- Amounts, percentages and dates as formatted numbers
- Tax IDs, account numbers and codes with zeros as text
- Frozen header row and column widths that fit the content
Not transferred
- Scans without a text layer (OCR is coming in the next update)
- Formulas: a PDF has none, only values are transferred
- Cell colours and fills
- Charts and graphs
- Tables drawn as images
Check that your file goes nowhere
- Open the developer tools: F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I (on a Mac Cmd+Option+I).
- Go to the Network tab and clear the list.
- Choose a PDF and click Convert.
- The list will show only the converter's own files from our site (scripts and fonts for reading PDF) and anonymous analytics events such as “conversion finished”, with no file name or content. There are no requests sending your document.
Only the converter code is downloaded from our server. The document itself is processed on your device.
FAQ
Is it safe to convert statements and invoices here?
The file is never uploaded. The converter runs in your browser: the PDF is read into the tab's memory and turned into an XLSX on your computer. Check it yourself: developer tools (F12), Network tab, run a conversion. There will be no requests carrying your document.
Why did tax IDs and account numbers stay as text?
On purpose. Excel turns long numbers into scientific notation and drops leading zeros, so digit codes of 9 or more characters and codes starting with zero stay text. Amounts, percentages and dates become numbers.
A table came out misaligned. What should I do?
Try the “Each page on its own sheet” mode, or untick the extra table in the list and rebuild the file. Bordered tables are recognised best; in borderless tables columns are inferred from text alignment.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Not yet. A scan has no text, only images of pages, and needs recognition (OCR). The converter will tell you honestly that the file is a scan. OCR is coming in the next update.
What are the limits?
Up to 30 MB and 200 pages per file. A password-protected PDF opens after you enter the password, which is used only in this tab.
How much does it cost?
It is free and needs no sign-up. There is no limit on the number of conversions: all the work happens on your device.
