Is your company ready for AI? Score it and get a 30-60-90 day roadmap
Answer 25 questions about your data, processes, security, team and infrastructure. See your score, your stage and the weakest links, then get a roadmap of what to fix first.

A self-assessment, not an audit. The score reflects your answers. Weights and thresholds are our method, shown below, not an industry standard, and there is no “better than X% of companies” benchmark. YuSMP sells AI engineering services; the services that fit are listed separately.
What each dimension means
Data
25%AI is only as good as the data it can reach. We ask where the data lives, how reliable it is, who can access it, how documents are organised and who owns the data under GDPR.
Processes
20%AI changes work, not just software. We ask whether the target processes are documented, standard and measured, whether use cases are chosen and how adoption is planned.
Security and governance
20%We ask about an AI usage policy, vendors and data flows, access and secrets, the EU AI Act and GDPR, and how AI output is checked.
Team and culture
20%We ask about executive sponsorship, skills, AI literacy, product ownership and the capacity to deliver.
Infrastructure
15%We ask about cloud environments, integration, how models and prompts are operated, cost visibility and access to models.
How scoring works
Each question has four levels, 0 to 3, described as facts you can check (for example “there is a record of processing”), not as grades like “good”. “I don’t know” counts as 0 and is marked.
A dimension score is the sum of its levels divided by the maximum, from 0 to 100. The overall score is the weighted average: data 25%, processes 20%, security and governance 20%, team 20%, infrastructure 15%.
Stages: below 30 Exploring, 30–54 Foundation, 55–74 Pilot-ready, 75 and above Scale-ready.
Weak link: if any dimension is below 25, the stage is capped at Foundation, because one missing piece stops a pilot whatever the average. If security and governance is below 40 and you work in an area the EU AI Act may treat as high-risk, the stage is also capped at Foundation.
If 8 or more answers are “I don’t know”, the score is a lower bound: finding out is the first step.
The roadmap picks up to 12 actions. An action is triggered by a low answer; its priority is the dimension weight × the gap to level 3 × an effort factor. Quick actions go to the first 30 days, medium to 60, large to 90, and nothing is scheduled before its prerequisite.
What this is not
- Not an audit: we do not check your systems, we score your answers.
- Not a benchmark: there is no comparison with other companies, because there is no honest data for it yet.
- Not legal advice: for the EU AI Act, classify each use case separately.
- Not the AI ROI calculator: this tool asks whether you are ready; the calculator asks what to automate and what it pays back.

FAQ
What does AI readiness mean?
It is whether your company can put AI into real work and keep it running: the data is reachable and reliable, the processes are clear and measured, the risks are managed, someone owns the result and the infrastructure can run and watch the models. A strong idea fails when one of these is missing.
How is the score calculated?
Each of the 25 questions has four levels from 0 to 3. A dimension score is its levels divided by the maximum, from 0 to 100. The overall score is the weighted average: data 25%, processes, security and team 20% each, infrastructure 15%. The full method is on this page.
What is a good score?
There is no pass mark. Below 30 is Exploring, 30–54 Foundation, 55–74 Pilot-ready and 75 or more Scale-ready. Most companies starting with AI land in Exploring or Foundation, and that is fine: the roadmap shows what to fix first.
Why does one weak dimension cap my stage?
Because a pilot fails at its weakest link. Great infrastructure does not help if nobody may use the data, and a strong team cannot ship without a usage policy. If any dimension is below 25, the stage stays at Foundation until that gap is closed.
Is this the same as the AI ROI calculator?
No, they work as a pair. This assessment asks whether you are ready and what to fix first. The AI ROI Calculator asks which processes to automate and what they pay back. Start with either one and pass your industry and size to the other.
Do I need to comply with the EU AI Act?
If you build or use AI systems in the EU, some obligations already apply, for example AI literacy of staff since February 2025. What else applies depends on each use case and its risk level. This assessment flags gaps but is not legal advice: use the EU AI Act Risk Classifier for each use case and check the result with a lawyer.
How long does it take to get ready?
As a rough guide: from Exploring, 3–6 months to a first pilot; from Foundation, 2–4 months; from Pilot-ready, a scoped pilot can start within weeks; at Scale-ready the work is a shared platform and governance. The roadmap breaks the first 90 days into concrete actions.
Can YuSMP run a readiness workshop?
Yes. In a one-day workshop our AI engineers go through the weak links with your team on real systems, agree one or two use cases and turn the roadmap into a plan with owners and dates. Use the form above to book it.
