Your quote stays confidential. The file is read in your browser; only the extracted text is sent over HTTPS for analysis by an AI model API (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI) and is not stored by YuSMP — not in a database, not in logs. Both providers process API data under their commercial terms and do not use it to train models. Want extra caution? Remove vendor names and personal data before uploading — the review still works.

We don't rate your vendor. We show what's missing in the quote and what to ask.

What Quote Review checks

Twelve cost items and twelve commercial terms that most often decide whether a software quote can be compared — and whether it holds up after you sign.

Cost items

  • Discovery & business analysisRequirements, workshops, specification before the build.
  • UX/UI designUser flows, wireframes, visual design, prototypes.
  • DevelopmentFront-end, back-end and mobile engineering.
  • QA & testingTest planning, manual and automated testing, regression.
  • Project managementPlanning, coordination, reporting, meetings.
  • DevOps & infrastructureEnvironments, CI/CD, deployment, server setup.
  • App Store & Google Play releaseStore listings, review, publication.

Commercial terms

  • Change requestsFixed price without a described process for changes and extra work.
  • Payment termsA large or full prepayment, or payments not tied to milestones and acceptance.
  • IP & code ownershipRights stay with the vendor, only a license is granted, or the code costs extra.
  • Acceptance procedureNo acceptance criteria or procedure, or work counts as accepted on delivery.
  • WarrantyNo warranty period for fixing defects free of charge.
  • Support & SLASupport after launch is not described or has no response times.
  • Hosting & platform lock-inHosting, domains, store or analytics accounts on the vendor's side, or a proprietary platform.
  • Repository accessCode is handed over only at the end, with no access to the repository during the work.
  • Third-party costsIt is not said who pays for licenses, APIs, hosting and developer accounts.
  • Timeline & milestonesNo timeline or milestones.
  • Assumptions & exclusionsNo assumptions and no list of what is not included.
  • Price breakdownOne total amount without a breakdown by phase or module.

What a good software quote includes

  • A breakdown by phase, module or role — with hours and rates, not one lump sum
  • Discovery, design, QA, project management and DevOps as separate items
  • Payment tied to milestones you accept, with a moderate advance
  • Transfer of source code and intellectual property, and access to the repository
  • Acceptance criteria, a warranty period and a support option with response times
  • Assumptions, exclusions and a change-request procedure
  • Third-party costs listed and assigned: licenses, APIs, hosting, store accounts

How it works

  1. Upload or paste

The file is read in your browser. Only the text is sent for analysis — and is not stored.

  2. AI maps the quote

The AI model extracts line items, totals and terms into a fixed structure; every quote it cites is checked against your document.

  3. Get the review

Our engine scores transparency, compares the total with a benchmark corridor and lists the questions to ask.

How the benchmark works

The corridor comes from our Project Cost Calculator (the same scope from MVP to a dedicated team) adjusted by published 2026 rates for the vendor's region from our software development cost benchmark. It is a corridor, not a price: below it isn't automatically a bargain, above it isn't automatically overpaying.

FAQ

What does Quote Review check?

Twelve cost items (discovery, design, development, QA, project management, DevOps, store release, warranty and support, third-party costs, security, documentation, code handover) and twelve commercial terms (change requests, payment terms, IP ownership, acceptance, warranty, SLA, lock-in, repository access, third-party costs, timeline, assumptions, price breakdown). It also places the total in a typical range for the scope and lists the questions to ask your vendor.

Is my quote stored or shared with anyone?

No. The file is read in your browser and only the extracted text is sent over HTTPS for analysis by an AI model API (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI). YuSMP does not store the text or the result — not in a database, not in logs. Both providers process API data under their commercial terms and do not use it to train models. You can remove vendor names and personal data before uploading.

Which file formats are supported?

PDF with a text layer, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, TXT and Markdown up to 5 MB, or pasted text up to 60,000 characters. Scanned PDFs are not supported yet — upload the original DOCX or XLSX, or paste the text.

How is the benchmark range calculated?

From our Project Cost Calculator for the detected project type and features — from an MVP to a dedicated team — adjusted by published 2026 rates for the vendor's region. It is a corridor, not a price, and our own rates are not shown.

The quote is below or above the range — does that mean the vendor is bad?

No. A different price usually means a different scope, team seniority or set of assumptions. Below the range, ask what is excluded and how changes are billed; above it, ask what drives the price. The questions in the review are written for exactly that conversation.

Is this legal advice?

No. The terms check is a checklist of points that are commonly missing from software quotes, not a review of a contract. For the contract itself, involve your lawyer.

What should a good software development quote include?

A breakdown by phase, module or role with hours and rates; discovery, design, QA, project management and DevOps as separate items; payments tied to accepted milestones; transfer of code and IP; acceptance criteria, warranty and support terms; assumptions, exclusions and a change-request procedure; and a list of third-party costs.

Can YuSMP prepare a counter-estimate?

Yes, free of charge. Send the request from this page — our engineers estimate the same scope independently within 1–2 business days, and we'll sign your NDA first if needed.

Comparing several quotes?

Send them to us — we'll prepare an independent counter-estimate for the same scope.
